Bchaaleh
Bchaaleh is the first Lebanese village powered 24/7 by a solar microgrid, bringing clean, reliable energy to over 180 homes with zero blackouts.
The challenge
Bchaaleh suffered from constant blackouts and an over-reliance on diesel generators. The lack of reliable electricity threatened both daily life and long-term sustainability for the village.
Solution
ME Grid implemented a full microgrid with solar generation, battery storage, and smart meters. Electricity is delivered continuously, with multi-tariff billing across different sources and remote monitoring. The system preserves Bchaaleh’s historic rooftops with a ground-mounted layout and involves the community directly through training and transparent governance.
