Solar energy subsidy increases in 2023

Good news never comes alone. After the changes to the terms of payment of the self-consumption bonus, an announcement has been made concerning the increase in its amount. The bonus is increasing, and I'll tell you right now by how much.

A quick look at the self-consumption bonus:

This is the subsidy you'll receive if you opt for self-consumption, selling the surplus via EDF, the French electricity utility, with photovoltaic panels. A little subtlety: to be eligible for this contract, your panels must be roof-mounted and have been installed by an RGE (Reconnu Garant de l'Environnement) company. As I announced on this channel, the terms of payment of this bonus have changed very recently. You now receive it in a single payment on the anniversary date of the connection of your installation.

That was the first piece of good news in February, but not the last. On February 28, 2023, the French Energy Regulatory Commission finally announced the premium rates for the last quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, and as you can imagine, there have been some increases.

If your installation was commissioned between November 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023, then the amount of your premium will be 480 euros per kilowatt installed up to three kilowatts peak, it will be 360 euros if your installation has an output of more than three kilowatts peak and does not exceed nine kilowatts peak, and 200 euros per kilowatt peak installed if you exceed nine kilowatts peak. For commissioning between February 1 and April 30, 2023, the bonus increases even further. We're talking about 500 euros per kilowatt installed up to three kilowatts peak, then 370 euros.

If your installation has an output of more than three kilowatts peak and does not exceed nine kilowatts peak, and finally 210 euros per kilowatt installed if you exceed nine kilowatts peak. For example, a six-kilowatt installation will entitle you to six times 370 euros, or 2,220 euros. Not bad, eh?

Increased premium and higher electricity prices:
